Supporting migrants affected by the Dublin Regulation
The European Union and Switzerland both adopted the Dublin III Regulation in 2013. The text calls for the return of migrants to the arrival country where they are initially registered.
In Switzerland, transfer to another country is carried out by cantons. All too often, migrants are poorly handled and the situation when they arrive is confused.
The Canton of Vaud asked ISS Switzerland to send in teams to improve the information and support given to these men and women and thereby ensure the Regulation is applied in a more dignified and humane manner. The project applies to decisions made to send migrants to Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain and France.
